Getting Back In The Groove
So at the end of last month’s post I said I’d update everyone on how the first month of “normality” had gone, with May being the first time since the arrival of Baby1322 that I attempted to do my usual content (such as random races, Gfreds, more streams, etc). And if I’m being honest I think the results have been mixed.
While I’ve definitely been able to get back to more normal activities, I’m also still struggling to adapt to the life changes that come from having a baby. For the first time ever really I find myself having to make compromises that I wouldn’t have before. For example my stream schedule is completely shot at this point. I think there’s a chance of getting Saturday streams started at 9am again but the Wednesday and Sunday evening streams (finishing at 9pm) just aren’t feasible any more. In addition I’m not finding it possible to get back to 4 hour streams, with 3 hours being about the limit at the moment. Off stream, trying to fit in bits of video making and other work when I can, rather than on following a regular schedule like I did before, is also a challenging change to get used to. Both Zearxy and I are working towards getting me back to a more scheduled work life, and I believe we’ll get there eventually, but it’s taking some time to figure out what will work best.
On the other hand it has been really nice to get back to normal content creation again. As much as I lament Gfred at times, or as many random races as we do, or as many cars as I test and races I mess up in iRacing, there is some comfort in the familiar. It’s also nice to get back to doing something where I feel somewhat capable and accomplished, as opposed to the constant feeling of inadequacy and lack of knowledge that comes with being a first time parent. This month will be a big test with the first "post-baby" GTA DLC expected to drop on the 17th. I’ve been lucky that all I had to do since he was born was test the Coquette D5. I’m about to get a lot more work on my plate soon!
And as usual I'll be back here with another post next month to ramble about how it all went. Thank you all for the continued support!
