Trying Times

Hi all! Welcome to February's monthly blog post, and sorry that it's so late! I seem to remember in the very early days I did one of these update posts on the last day of the month after forgetting about it, so at least it's not that bad, but I'm normally a lot earlier to get these done.

And the reason for that is that it's simply been a bit of a rough start to the month. With illness for me and managing some health issues for Zearxy, all while juggling a baby and the start of the MCEC (which is even more work than I remember), it’s been tough. Life always has its ups and downs from time to time and some times are harder than others. It’s usually beneficial not to begin hosting a multi-platform multi-race season of the biggest GTA racing event in history during those tough times. If only it were possible to see into the future.

I’ve been saved a little bit by my learnings from previous seasons though, specifically regarding how to manage my time when MCEC is running and importantly not trying to do too much. In the past I’ve hosted, raced, streamed, and made long recap videos for every MCEC round, alongside trying to do my normally scheduled non-MCEC content. And inevitably got burned out with it all. This time I made a conscious decision to focus on hosting and streaming the event, while cancelling my normal Wednesday streams and forgoing the time consuming videos and misery inducing racing (because of my own poor performances due to a lack of practice time). This has all allowed me the proper time required to manage the championship from a behind the scenes host perspective, alongside putting my focus on the live experience to improve that and make it the best it can be. While I’ll still do some races as a reserve driver, the pressure of a full championship and the competition/expectation that brings isn’t there, and I’m able to enjoy the races a lot more by watching from the outside.

Thankfully things are calming now. I'm feeling a lot better than I did in the first week of February and the first two weeks of MCEC (where a lot of the setup work is done) are now behind me and I can see how a normal manageable weekly schedule is going to be. I guess there's a reason this hasn't happened for 6 years!

As always it's good to remember that nothing, good or bad, lasts forever and to enjoy what you can of it while you can. Thanks for sticking with me during the MCEC's return and I hope I'm able to make the viewer experience as good as you all deserve!

See you hopefully a bit earlier for next month's post!
