A Challenging Schedule

Sorry for the lateness of this month's Patreon update; it has been a challenging start to the month and that looks set to continue probably for the rest of the summer. Hopefully this month's post will give some insight into how I try to juggle my time.

As you may know at the start of the month I went to the F1 Grand Prix at Silverstone. That was great! We had a good time. But it also meant I had an entire weekend without a stream. On it's own that's fine, but in the middle of the month we're travelling to Amsterdam for a week for TwitchCon EU. That's another weekend missed. And then towards the end of August we're on our way back to Sweden for two weeks and for the first time since before Covid to see Zearxy's family.

So when I sat down and worked all this out earlier last month, I realised that in the space of 9 weekends, I'd be missing 4 weekend's worth of streams. In any other job that might be fine. You save up your holidays and take them in the summer when the kids are off. But for me it's a bit of a headache since I can't just stop the rollout of content. Missing streams are stressful but acceptable given the live nature of them. It's bound to happen. But not uploading to YouTube for such prolonged periods is a big problem. And given a lot of my YouTube videos come from things we do on stream, I had to really sit down and think about how I'd make it all work.

Thankfully I'm pretty sure I game up with a good solution. Doing enough in the streams I'm doing in order to cover the (let's say) "required" content for YouTube (random alls, gfreds, etc). But I've had to plan videos (not the exact nature of them but at least the type of them) months in advance in order to work out where I'd fit everything in in relation to the streams. And further complicating it is the rumour that the next GTA update will be coming out on the 19th July, which is the day I'm flying back from Amsterdam.

One thing is for sure, it's going to be a fairly up and down summer where I'll be super busy and stressed in the moments when I'm working, but then there will also be other weeks where I'm doing nothing at all. In contrast to my normal, fairly flat experience. I'll aim to relax enough in the downtimes in order to get me through the busy periods. See you all for the August post where I'll try to give an update on where I am!
