Future Prep

So I've decided to test all cars in GTA 4. This may seem like a silly thing to do, and it is, but it does have some benefits. The obvious ones are that when we get GTA 4 cars up on GTACars.net they'll have associated lap times and top speeds like the GTA 5 vehicles do. In addition, I get to make testing videos for GTA 4 alongside GTA 5 and there's the associated income from that (though my hourly rate for GTA 4 testing will likely be on par with GTA 5 Vans class I suspect :D).

There are some less obvious benefits too though, beyond just the itch being scratched to have complete final lists of cars in both GTA 4 and 5 before 6. All I've ever known is testing vehicles in GTA 5. I'll be doing that one more time with the DLC this month and then that should be it. GTA 6 will arrive in November and everyone will be looking to me for car testing information, but it's almost guaranteed that I won't be able to test in the same way I do with GTA 5. I'll need to quickly adapt and figure out the best way to test, at least initially, until a more concrete method can be devised. Testing on GTA 4 gives me some practice at doing that. I've already had to work around a number of issues, methodology tweaks, and game limitations that I expect I'll also face in GTA 6, and it's been quite satisfying to figure that all out on a new game.

There's also only 124 cars, which is a walk in the park compared to the over 800 total vehicles for GTA 5 I've tested over the years. So it's been interesting to finally go back and see the true speed differences between a lot of the cars I was driving back in 2008. It's something I've always been curious about and I'm really looking forward to making the testing videos on them. I know they won't be anywhere near as popular as GTA 5 but I think they'll be interesting to see nevertheless. My hope is that this will be the final DLC for GTA 5 and I can put up GTA 4 & 5 testing videos back to back each week (eg. GTA 4 Supers on Wednesday, GTA 5 Supers on Thursday) and have finished, permanent, never needing any more updates testing series for each all complete before 6 drops.

And then we start all over again in November...
