Another Year

Well it's official - GTA 6 is now back to being over a year away. And I don't know how I feel.

On one hand I've talked quite a bit during these blog posts about how I'm preparing for GTA 6, making sure I have everything done with GTA 5 (and in general) that I want to get done before it all changes. It's nice to have some extra time to do all that now. A little bit less rushing and trying to fit things in.

But on the other hand I'm just like all the rest of you in wanting to get that new game. It will have been (ironically) 13 years, 2 months, and 2 days of GTA 5 when GTA 6 releases, and that's just too long. Another 6 months will be great for me to get more stuff done sure, but I'd rather rush or sacrifice some stuff and get the game in May instead.

I also really want GTA 5 to be done. I was looking forward to this next winter DLC (which will come out the day before my Birthday this year) being the last one, with a view to creating final testing videos in 2026 that won't ever need changing or updating. I'm still hoping that will be the case, but it's a perfect example of that need I feel to wrap things up and have things finished being completely thrown out with this delay. I think I'm more annoyed by that than the extra 6 months of waiting I need to do to play the new game. We've waited long enough - what's another 6 months. It's more the desire to be finished with GTA 5 than to play GTA 6 that drives my disappointment I think.

But alas there's not an awful lot that can be done. Move some goalposts, change some plans, adapt and extend. I guess 2025's stream week won't be the last one before GTA 6 after all.
