Success Comes At A Cost
In last month's Patreon post I spoke about how I was gearing up for the week of streams, starting with the Random All marathon and then continuing with the usual sub goals and raising money for charity for an entire week. Well it turned out to be an incredible success, surpassing all my expectations in terms of hitting sub milestones and having great streams, while raising plenty of money for a variety of charities.
What I didn't anticipate is the toll it would take. After that week I was exhausted, and I'm still feeling the effects. Despite it being the off-season and that I took some time off during that too, I still feel drained from a year where I haven't really given myself a proper prolonged break. And the stream week was the nail in the coffin for that.
It's easy to forget, at least for me. I just go through the motions each month, doing what I need to do and what I've set out for myself to do. And on my days off I try my best to keep up with things that need doing in the house, or in real life in general. But eventually things build up and there isn't enough time to do it all, and I forget to give myself time to get things sorted or even just relax, because it's all on me. Things have to be done eventually - I don't have anyone else to take up my slack if I have a day off. So I have to manage my time and what I need to do, and most of the time I put my own needs at the bottom of the list.
Well the stream week pushed me into needing to do something about it, so despite it not being the off-season (which I'm now learning I should do a better job at taking time off during), I'm having to reduce streams and videos for the first part of October. I'm hoping it won't have too much impact, but at this point it has become something I just need to do. Thank you all for your continued support <3
