Random Races

The embedded google sheet below shows an ever-changing selection of my favourite random races to play during GTA Online live streams. Most will be the same tracks that I use for FiveM random races, and are set up as per the guidelines on this page so you can be sure of a proper experience.

This is an entirely subjective list of my own favourite tracks to use. If you want to submit a track for consideration to be added here then fill in this form, and explore all tracks submitted via that form with no bias for my own preferences or quality control by checking this spreadsheet.

Setting Up Random All Races

There are a number of nuances that need to be kept in mind when converting tracks into random races in GTA Online to ensure as close to a true “Random All” experience as possible. Also explained in this video with more background on reasons for each recommendation.

General Considerations

  • Title the track “R.All - Track Name” to ensure consistency and having all random races appear in the same place in players’ bookmarks. Themed variations, such as Random Pain, or Sports cars, or Slow vehicles, can be named similarly (eg. R.Pain, R.Sports, R.Slow).

  • Track lap time should be around 50-70 seconds in a quick sports car. Less can work but runs the risk of being too small for 30 players. Longer won’t work unless the random selection is restricted to similarly paced cars for a more fair race, or multiple random checkpoints are used.

  • When swapping an existing track to a random transform race, “Allow Vehicle Speed Boosts” (recommended: Yes) and “Ambient Settings” for Traffic and Pedestrians (recommended: Off) will reset, so remember to fix those.

  • Ensure that the Lock Weather option in “Lobby Options” is set to No. This goes for all tracks, not just random races.

  • Also highly recommended is to set “Ghost to First Checkpoint”, “Anti Grief Ghosting”, “Disable Boost On Go”, and “Disable Slipstream” to Yes, and set “Default Catch-Up Mode” to Off (doesn’t need to be outright disabled).

  • When a job is loaded back up, it’s possible that HSW Tier 1 and 2 (and other single cars within other categories) will have been reselected in the list if originally deselected, so remember to deselect them again if updating.

Duplicate Vehicles

Some vehicles appear in the “Available Random Vehicles” menu multiple times in different categories. Other vehicles have identical variations within the same category. All of these extras should be disabled to ensure only one version of each vehicle is available.

For example, if the Banshee is selected in Sports, HSW All, and HSW Tier 3, it will be three times more likely to appear as anything else, which is not a desirable behaviour for random races where every vehicle should have an equal chance of being selected.

These are the vehicles that should be disabled for land races:

  • Off-Road → Patriot

  • Off-Road → Manchez Scout

  • Motorcycles → Sanchez (Livery)

  • Cycles → Whippet Race Bike

  • Cycles → Endurex Race Bike

  • Cycles → Junk Energy Inductor

  • Vans → Benson (Cluckin’ Bell)

  • Vans → Boxville (LSDS)

  • Tuner → Entire Class

  • HSW All → Everything Except Sentinel XS

  • HSW Tier 1 → Entire Class

  • HSW Tier 2 → Entire Class

  • HSW Tier 3 → Entire Class

These vehicles should also be disabled if these classes are being used:

  • Helicopters → SuperVolito Carbon

  • Helicopters → Valkyrie No Gun

  • Planes → Velum 5-Seater

  • Boats → Dinghy (2-seater)

  • Boats → Dinghy (4-seater)

Random Pain

Random Pain is a popular random race variation on FiveM that contains some of the worst meme vehicles available. While the vanilla GTA Online selection isn’t quite as bad, there are still plenty of slow or awful to drive vehicles that can be included.

Enable all of the following vehicles to create a Random Pain variation of a track:

  • Coupes → F620

  • Sedans → Emperor, Regina, Turreted Limo

  • Muscle → Rat-Truck, Slamvan, Voodoo, Faction, Duke O'Death, Moonbeam, Faction Custom Donk, Ruiner 2000, Hotknife, Weaponized Tampa, Vamos, Weevil Custom

  • Sports → Raptor, Streiter, Locust, Itali GTO Stinger TT

  • Sports Classics → Manana, Tornado, Tornado Rat Rod, Stromberg, Deluxo, Toreador

  • Supers → Rocket Voltic, Vigilante, Taipan, Entity XXR

  • SUVs → Dubsta 6x6, Patriot Stretch

  • Off-Road → Rat-Loader, Liberator, Technical, Marshall, Dune, Ramp Buggy, Technical Aqua, Blazer Aqua, Caracara, Zhaba, Winky, Verus

  • Motorcycles → Faggio, Faggio Mod, Faggio Sport, Oppressor, Rampant Rocket, Stryder, Pizza Boy

  • Cycles → BMX, Cruiser, One Race Bike, Scorcher, One Inductor

  • Services → Entire Class

  • Industrial → Entire Class

  • Utility → Entire Class

  • Vans → Benson, Boxville (Go Postal), Gang Burrito (Lost), Minivan, Mule, Stockade, Taco Van, Camper, Journey, Surfer, Armored Boxville, Mule Custom

  • Trucks → Entire Class

  • Arena Contender → Entire Class

  • Open Wheel → R88

  • Go-Kart → Entire Class

  • Drift → Entire Class

It’s worth noting that not all of these vehicles are entirely awful. There are many reasons to include vehicles in Random Pain over and above just being really slow. Some are simply difficult to drive, have unique features, have issues on kerbs, or risk being smacked around by other cars. The fact that there are also some quick cars (if used correctly) is what adds to the spice of a Random Pain.
